How to communicate better with the people who matter most.
Your invitation to "Transform Your Relationships", a two day workshop in Frome, September 26th and 27th.
The people closest to us can activate us the most.
A partner’s sigh or a parent’s throwaway comment can take us right back to being six years old again, defending ourselves against a charge no one has actually made.
It’s easy to blame the other person, but the size of the reaction is the clue. When the feeling is bigger than the moment, something old has just been touched.
A part of us we once filed away as too much, too needy, too angry, or too soft.
We can’t see it directly. So we do the next best thing. We try to manage it.
We go quiet, and swallow our words.
Or we go in hard and try to win.
Often we abandon our own needs to keep the peace.
None of it lets us say the true thing cleanly and clearly.
That is what an unmet shadow costs a relationship. Once the part of us that got activated is running the show, the conversation is no longer about what happened.
The work is to turn towards that part. To notice what gets triggered, sit with it, and learn what it has been trying to protect.
Something changes when we do.
We can set a boundary without having to make a speech to defend it.
We can be vulnerable without falling apart.
We can have the conversation we have been avoiding for months, and stay ourselves the whole way through.
These are learnable skills.
And you can learn them at a two-day workshop I’m co-facilitating in September.
Transform Your Relationships is a weekend of shadow work and honest communication, co-facilitated with Marianne Hill. It is hands-on. You work with your own patterns, in real practice, and you leave with a framework you can keep using.
It is for anyone who wants to change how they show up with the people who matter.
“I found the workshop very powerful. The combination of communication skills with shadow work seems to get right to the heart of the matter: taking responsibility for ourselves. I have already experienced the positive outcome of this open relating through practising once since the workshop, and I am sure it is the key to resolving disputes at every level of human interaction.” - Sophie
